Géoparc des Alpes Cottiennes

On both sides of the river, the grassy and wooded slopes are set on till deposits (of ancient glaciers now disappeared) made up of loose sand and gravel with blocks of all sizes.

These till deposits have been eroded over time but parts of them have resisted better than others, one of them being this "fairy chimney" (also called "rock pedestal") which is clearly visible in the landscape.
